Encounter a Lost Art explores ways in which the youth of today can experience the transcendent. This reflection is built upon Br Damien’s forty plus years of experience of working with young people seeking to find meaning and purpose in their lives. Encounter a Lost Art suggests both theoretical frames for the encounter experience and the forms these encounters may take for young people today; nature, ritual and symbol, the sharing of story, significant life experiences, service, community, silence and more. Encounter a Lost Art is build upon the belief that to a large extent Christian faith communities have lost the art of creating spaces where young people can actually have an experience of God rather than just talking about it.
